This is a very nicely done graphical presentation explaining the origins of the credit crisis, by Jonathan Jarvis (Crisisofcredit.com)

New rich farmer

A funny Thai advert.

A Thai farmer shows off his new rich lifestyle, attained by planting fast growing paper trees and selling them to Double A

Just buy me the *#$% bag

Another great Thai advert:

A Thai college student asks her boyfriend to buy her a new handbag. When he refuses, she puts her foot down, showing who is the boss. Luckily, he can take her to Chester's Grill for a cheap lunch afterwards.

The Other Hawaii

Another excellent report from Al-Jazeera. This program show the reality and aspirations of the Hawaiian people. A reality that is usually hidden under the carpet.

In 1983, Hawaii was an independent country with a constitutional monarchy, eighty ambassadors around the world and five friendly treaties with the USA. Then the US marines arrived, arrested the queen, dissolved parliament and militarily occupied the country, and eventually annexed it to the USA ignoring Hawaiians' opinion (90% of Hawaiians signed a petition protesting the coming annexation). They haven't forgotten and are still trying to get their country back.

A quote from the Hawaiian author Haunani Kay-Trak says it all:

"So do I hate the United States? Absolutely, I absolutely hate them. And lots of Hawaiians do. And the mystique of Hawaiians' soft, sweet and kindness is total... that's all propaganda. Lots of us are really, really angry."

The Promised land?

Another great history documentary from Al-Jazeera. In three episodes, it goes through the arrival of the first Zionist immigrants in Palestine, the partition and the creation of the state of Israel.

War Without End

War Without End is a new Al-Jazeera English documentary series about the Iraq war, starting from the infamous victory speech on May 1st 2003. The first episode was aired on the 5th of May and covered 2003. A week later, the second episode covered year 2004, so it seems that the whole series will consist of 5 or maybe 6 episodes. I will update this playlist as they post new episodes.
